Are you a Heavy Equipment Road Technician who expects and deserves to earn "Today" dealership-level top pay and benefits but prefers not to work at a dealership? The Resident Road Techs we need do not need daily supervision; they need and expect our company's full support. For years now, to better support our customers, our network of Road Techs have been dispatched daily from and to their homes to handle scheduled and unscheduled equipment repairs and maintenance in their regional area.

Job Objective:

The Resident Service Technician diagnoses and performs standard mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic repairs and assembles equipment for the company and its customers in a primarily field setting. Techs will occasionally work overtime as needed.

You will perform the typical duties of a Field Tech, which include:

Travel to customer locations as assigned for job functions.

· Inspect, diagnose, troubleshoot, and locate mechanical deficiencies on Heavy Equipment as assigned by the service manager.

·Proper use of diagnostic equipment.

Determine the extent of necessary repairs, including identifying major powertrain overhaul needs.

· Prepare orders for required services.

Order parts as needed.

· Repair and/or replace all components of diesel engines, hydraulic, air conditioning, electrical, and suspension systems, drive trains, steering, braking, material handling, operator comfort systems, and other functions as necessary to bring the machine up to operating status.

· Update the manager and customer on any obstacles during the repair process.

· Assist service manager in properly billing customers.

· Report back to the service manager any issues with a customer that are prohibiting our ability to provide world-class services.

· Develop trust and rapport with customers and assist in resolving customer complaints.

· Read, analyze, and interpret technical information from schematics, technical manuals, drawings and procedures, and governmental regulations.

· Perform welding and brazing, fabricate and modify parts, equipment, miscellaneous structures, and attachments.

· Keep the service manager informed on special parts orders, shortages, and malfunctions.

· Complete all work orders (including warranty information) and time sheets in a legible, accurate, and timely manner.

· Maintain a current knowledge of products, technology, and models by participating in educational opportunities and reading technical and regulation publications.

· Keep service vehicles clean and serviced.

· Help control expenses and produce as much quality work as possible.

· Maintain a safe working environment and adhere to company safety program at all times.

· Other work-related functions as assigned by management.

Work Environment:

· While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to dust, odors, oil, fumes and noise.

· The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

· While performing duties, the employee may be near moving mechanical parts, and exposed to outside weather conditions.

Requirements

The physical demands described here are representative of those that an employee must meet to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

· Ability to operate a commercial class vehicle including proper licensing and MVR.

· The employee would normally lift or move 20 lbs., frequently lift or move up to 45 lbs. and occasionally lifts or move up to 50 lbs.

· Ability to tolerate up and down movement with bending or stooping, including reaching above and below shoulder height with arms and hands.

· Ability to be on one's feet for extended periods of time.

· Ability to climb a ladder with the ability to carry an object while climbing.

· Ability to utilize appropriate PPE.

· Ability to operate equipment or other powered devices as necessary.

· Ability to push/pull up to 100 lbs. of force with assisted devices.

· Must be able to operate a service truck crane.
