Our Service Department is Growing to support our continuous increase in Heavy Equipment Sales! We currently have Shop and Field Service Positions available for Heavy Equipment Technicians at our Jackson, MS. location.

Shop Technician:

Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities:

  • Disassemble, assemble, and install components and parts, including but not limited to powertrain, hydraulic, electrical AC/DC, and diesel engines in accordance with all prescribed quality and safety standards.

  • Identify the problem and cause of failure through logical troubleshooting steps.

  • Clean, repair, recondition, and maintain equipment and components.

  • Test, measure, and adjust engine and machine systems and components.

  • Research and determine reusability of parts in accordance with published manufacturer guidelines.

  • Coordinate the ordering of replacement parts with supervisor.

  • Prepare and submit detailed, complete and legible service reports of all inspection and repairs performed using prescribed forms and procedures in a timely manner.

  • Keep supervisor regularly apprised of status of assigned repair jobs and assist in addressing customer questions and concerns.

  • Maintain professional and proper personal appearance at all times.

 

Field Technician:

Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities:

*Includes all duties listed in our Shop Technician responsibilities plus:

  • Troubleshoot field service delivery-related problems (weather, traffic, breakdowns) to resolution in real time.

  • Maintain all motor vehicle logs, documentation, and driving standards as may be required by the Department of Transportation (DOT), federal/state authorities, and the company.

  • Inspect all assigned vehicles and equipment daily and report repair and/or maintenance requests to designated manager. Maintain assigned vehicle in a clean and fueled state of readiness.

  • Perform minor roadside repairs and basic preventive maintenance to assigned vehicle.

  • Keep up to date with developments in tooling, technologies and systems.

 

  • Current Class D motor vehicle license, DOT medical certification, and other related licenses as required by the Department of Transportation, federal, and/or state statutes.

  • Must have and maintain a driving record (MVR) which adheres to the company’s motor vehicle policy standards.

Required Skills, Knowledge, and Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required. Diesel engine, construction equipment and/or truck engine training and certifications through accredited technical schools or relevant military experience preferred.

 

  • Minimum 3 to 5 years previous hands-on work experience as a diesel technician repairing Volvo or competitor heavy equipment or applicable diagnostic and troubleshooting experience.

 

  • Ability to read and comprehend moderate computer-based schematics, specifications, service and parts literature, technical bulletins, safety manuals, and other related publications.

 

  • Basic mechanical systems knowledge of diesel engines/engine failures, electrical and hydraulic systems.

 

  • Proficient in the use of mechanical test equipment.

 

  • Ability to safely use material handling equipment and tooling and wear company required PPE (protective eyewear, gloves, harnesses, footwear) during a shift assignment that could last between 8 and 10 hours.

 

  • Good problem-solving skills, detail oriented, and ability to work with a high level of accuracy.

 

  • Good computer skills using related information system applications.

 

  • Ability to perform duties with a sense of urgency, exceeding customer expectations.

 

  • Ability to work in a dynamic fast-paced service environment.

 

  • Ability to work standard five-day work schedule, including daily overtime, and occasional weekend hours as necessary.

 

Other Job Requirements:

  • Possess a complete set of basic mechanics hand tools, including drives, sockets, and wrenches.
