Job Purpose: Support dealership technicians by:
1. Providing troubleshooting expertise, working with the manufacturer's support and product groups to resolve product defects and issues.
2. Identifying skill gaps and technical training needs.
Job Duties
· Designs, develops, produces, and delivers technical training materials and instruction for dealer TCs, dealer and customer technicians and company personnel to improve/maintain their service skills and enhance professional education and development.
· Provides new product introduction technical training to people who support the product.
· Participates in needs analysis studies to determine training needs within the organization.
· Meets with management to gain knowledge of specific work situations requiring employees to better understand changes in policies, procedures, regulations, and technologies.
· Makes decisions on the type and quantity of training materials and/or instruction needed, training media and whether to produce in-house or use suppliers.
· Formulates teaching outline and determines instructional methods such as individual training, group instruction, lectures, demonstrations, conferences, meetings, and workshops.
· Selects/develops teaching aids such as training handbooks, demonstration models, multimedia visual aids, computer tutorials, and reference works.
· Selects/develops testing and evaluation procedures to be used at completion of training.
· Conducts training sessions covering specified areas such as new employee orientation, on-the-job training, use of computers and software, apprenticeship programs, customer service, sales techniques, health and safety practices, public relations, refresher training, promotional development, upgrading, retraining displaced workers, and leadership development.
· Reports on progress of employees under guidance during training periods.
· Revises design of training curriculum and methods to improve effectiveness regularly.
· Presents courses in the traditional classroom setting or by virtual interactive computer-based format.
· Meets and communicates with technicians to resolve product issues
· Works with manufacturers technical support and product groups to resolve product issues
Education and/or Experience:
Desired candidate should have a college degree in engineering or education/equivalent experience in progressive training assignments involving classroom instruction, design, development, and delivery of training courses and the materials. Must have excellent oral and written communication skills, an extensive knowledge of company product, policies, and procedures.
Continuous education and actualization of industry changes through factory, virtual learning, conferences, etc. is expected. Utilization of resources such as DPC (Dealer Performance Center), Convergence, Channel1 amongst other platforms is encouraged to stay up to date on New Product Information.
Language Skills:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
